What this covers
This explains the cookies and similar technologies redmonk.in uses, separate from the broader Privacy Policy, which covers personal data generally.
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser to remember something between visits or requests.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
- None currently — the site doesn't use session or authentication cookies on public pages. The admin panel (/admin) sets a login session cookie for staff only.
Analytics
- Google Analytics (GA4) — sets cookies (e.g. _ga, _ga_*) to measure page views, traffic sources, and which pages are used, and to tell returning visitors apart from new ones. Data is aggregated; we don't build individual visitor profiles.
Advertising
- None. We've explicitly turned off Google Signals / ads personalization (allow_google_signals: false) — this site doesn't run remarketing, ad audiences, or cross-site ad tracking.
Why we don't gate analytics behind a consent click
Google Analytics here is configured for aggregate measurement only — no ad personalization, no cross-site profiles, no data sold or shared for advertising. We believe this sits in the same category as ordinary server logs: it tells us the site is working, not who you are. If you'd rather not be counted at all, use your browser's tracking protection or an extension like uBlock Origin — both block Google Analytics outright, and we have no way to detect or work around that.
Your choices
- Block analytics cookies via your browser's cookie settings, or a content blocker — most modern browsers make this a couple of clicks.
- Opt out of Google Analytics specifically via the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Ask us what we've collected, or to delete it, any time — see the Privacy Policy's Contact section.
Changes
If what we use changes — say, we add a new tool that sets cookies — we'll update this page and bump the version above.
