What a Website Actually Costs in India in 2026

Every week, someone asks us how much a website actually costs in India, and almost every agency answer sounds like a dodge. So here is ours, with real numbers.

This post breaks down the price bands we actually quote for landing pages, business websites, and product or web app builds, the three things that move the number most, and three questions worth asking before you sign anyone's quote.

Why “how much does a website cost” never gets a straight answer

A founder emailed us last week asking for “just a ballpark” on a website. We gave him a range. He came back annoyed that we couldn't just name a number.

We get why that's frustrating, but “a website” isn't one thing to price. A five-page brochure site and a logged-in product dashboard both get called “a website,” and they can be ten times apart in cost. Any agency that gives you a single number before understanding your scope is either guessing or lowballing you to get the meeting.

What we actually quote: three real price bands (2026)

These are indicative starting-from ranges based on what we've quoted through 2026, not a fixed price list. Think of them as the shape of the market, not a guarantee.

  • Landing page or one-pager: ₹40,000–₹1,20,000, roughly 1–2 weeks. Single page, template or lightweight custom build. The right band for an early-stage founder who needs something live for a launch or a fundraise deck.
  • Business website: ₹1,50,000–₹4,00,000, roughly 4–6 weeks. 5–10 pages, CMS-backed so your team can edit copy without calling us. This is the band most SMBs and growing startups land in, and where most “web design agency Bangalore” searches end up.
  • Product or web app: ₹5,00,000–₹15,00,000+, 8+ weeks. Custom front-end and back-end, user accounts, dashboards, integrations. The band for anything with logged-in users or a workflow behind the marketing site.

The three things that actually move the number

Platform choice. A templated Webflow build moves faster and costs less than a fully custom-coded site. Custom only pays for itself when you need something a template genuinely can't do: a non-standard interaction, a real dashboard, tight performance control.

How ready your content is. A client who shows up with copy, images and a sitemap finishes in roughly half the time of one who is still deciding what the site should say. We've had two near-identical-scope projects land six weeks apart on timeline for exactly this reason, with no change in the brief at all.

How many people sign off. Every extra stakeholder in the approval chain adds a round of revisions. Three sign-offs instead of one typically adds 20–30% to the project's real cost, even when nobody writes it on the invoice.

Three questions worth asking before you sign any quote

If you're evaluating a website redesign company in India, or trying to hire a web designer in India for the first time, these three questions do more work than any price comparison:

  • What exactly is included in revision rounds? Vague scoping here is where quotes quietly blow up later. We wrote a full breakdown of how to brief this properly in our guide on how to brief a design agency.
  • Who owns the site once it's built? Make sure you get real CMS access and source files, not just a login you can't actually use if you switch agencies later.
  • What happens after launch? Ask what maintenance or an AMC costs separately. A ₹2L site with no plan for updates usually costs more in year two than a ₹2L site with one.

A real example of the same brief, two different prices

Two clients came to us this year with almost the same brief: a 6-page business site for a services company, roughly the same number of pages and features. One quote landed near the bottom of our business-website band, the other near the top.

The difference wasn't negotiation. The client who landed at the lower end had a content doc, a rough sitemap and one decision-maker signing off. The other was still workshopping their own positioning mid-project and routed every page through three people. Same brief on paper, a genuinely different project in practice, and the price followed the project, not the paper.

Takeaways

Website cost in India is a function of scope, platform and how ready your content is, not a lookup table. Ask the three questions above before anyone signs anything, and treat a straight range as a basic trust signal: any agency worth hiring can give you one on a first call.
